eikcam ceramics is a home decor collection designed and handmade by vancouver artist/designer, grace lee. most of grace's work lends a sense of naturalness and whimsy which serve as functional pieces for the table or home.
the artist's approach to design remains a kind of layered simplicity. she often combines different textures with hues and colors to complement the form, shape and functionality of the piece.
After completing studies in ceramics and an Industrial Design degree from Emily Carr in 2001, Grace began to work as a visual stylist for boutiques, hotels and exhibitions across Canada. Soon thereafter, she became an art director for a local home decor distributor. While traveling around the world for inspiration, she created lifestyle imagery and designed tableware and housewares for national and international retailers. After a long stint in the corporate realm, one particular and life changing trip to Paris inspired Grace to return to her love of working with her hands. In particular, clay was calling her and she has designed and made many collections and forms ever since.
Since 2007, Grace has built her body of work and experience in craft shows and sales across Canada and the US. the shows that she frequents are the One of a Kind Show in Toronto, Circle Craft in Vancouver and Renegade SF and studio sales in her studio in East Vancouver, BC.
In 2018, she finally made a big move into the studio of her dreams. She formed OH Studio Project ( OH short for Object Handmade ) and began teaching workshops and hosting food based events. Later in the year, she partnered up with Strange Fellows Brewery to launch a Christmas market called, Krampusmarkt.
Grace continues to work full time from her studio while being mom to her not-so-little daughter, Olive.
Here is a short documentary of Grace in her former studio done by gab films for telus tv in 2015. It’s a into her practice and what inspires her designs and forms.
